Yanel Pinto earns Women’s 1500m freestyle gold – USA Swimming Sectionals, Fort Lauderdale

Yanel A Pinto of Gator Swim Club earned gold medal of the Women’s 1500m freestyle on initial day of the 2012 USA Swimming Sectionals in Fort Lauderdale on Thursday, July 12.
Pinto demonstrated her stupendous efforts in the distant freestyle end as she rushed her way towards the finishing wall for gold medal.
With her remarkable pace and utter determination, Pinto faced no trouble in securing gold medal of the event as she tapped the wall with the timing of 16 minutes and 53.21 seconds.
Her title-claiming effort remained three and a half body lengths ahead of her strongest opponents, Autumn S Finke of Saint Petersburg, who occupied silver medal of the discipline by submitting a fantastic time of 16 minutes and 56.84 seconds.
The second position holder was chased by Stephan Nasson of Adirondack Aquatics, who snared bronze medal of the discipline by reporting a time of 17 minutes and 11.02 seconds.
Subsequently, fourth position of the discipline was obtained by Lani Cabrera of Davie Nadadores, who stayed 3.35 seconds apart and settled on the finishing blockade with an effort of 17 minutes and 14.37 seconds.
Cabrera was trailed by Megan Moroney of Saint Andrew’s, who stayed almost nine seconds apart and finished fifth in the event by clocking an effort of 17 minutes and 23.78 seconds.
Sixth position of the thirty-lap freestyle discipline was obtained by Mel Marinheiro of South Florida Aquatics, who stayed nearly four seconds apart and posted a time of 17 minutes and 27.49 seconds.
The 15-year-old Marinheiro was chased by Sarah Hargrave of Adirondack Aquatics, who stayed 9.41 seconds behind her foregoing finisher and settled on the wall as seventh position holder with the timing of 17 minutes and 36.91 seconds.
The 17-year-old Hargrave was traced by Florencia Melo of Una Dana-FG, who stayed 0.81 seconds slower from overpowering her former finisher and touched the wall with the timing of 17 minutes and 37.72 seconds for eighth position.
In addition, Pinto expressed happiness over her victory in the 1500m event and articulated her plans of dominating the same event at superior levels of swimming.
