Yanel Pinto occupies Women’s 200m freestyle gold – USA Swimming Sectionals, Fort Lauderdale
Yanel A Pinto of Gator Swim Club occupied gold medal of the Women’s 200m freestyle on day two of the 2012 USA Swimming Sectionals in Fort Lauderdale on Friday, July 13.
The 23-year-old Pinto stifled hopes of her challengers in the four-lap freestyle discipline as she snared gold medal of the discipline in a wonderful manner.
With her laudable pace, Pinto stayed considerably faster from her opponents and made her way to the finishing wall for gold medal by producing a time of 2 minutes and 03.11 seconds.
Her title claiming effort was trailed by her teammate, Andreina Pinto, who stayed almost two seconds apart and settled on the victory stand for silver medal by clocking a time of 2 minutes and 05.03 seconds.
The second position holder was chased by Olivia Katcher of Swim Fort Lauderdale, who stayed 1.27 seconds slower from overpowering her foregoing finisher and cruised her way towards the finishing blockade with the timing of 2 minutes and 06.30 seconds.
Similarly, the bronze medallist was trailed by CeCe Williams of Area Tallahassee, who was just a touch slower from reaching the podium.
The 16-year-old Williams remained 0.13 seconds slower from the third position holder and settled on the finishing blockade as fourth position holder by posting a time of 2 minutes and 06.43 seconds.
Fifth position of the discipline was obtained by Harper Bruens of Fla Aquatics-FG, who stayed just 0.05 seconds apart and submitted a time of 2 minutes and 06.48 seconds.
Bruens was chased by Megan Moroney of Saint Andrew’s, who was just an inch slower from outsmarting her over the finishing wall and clocked a timing of 2 minutes and 06.51 seconds.
Seventh position of the event was secured by Mel Marinheiro of South Florida Aquatics, who was just one body length behind and reported a time of 2 minutes and 07.51 seconds.
Subsequently, Marinheiro remained 0.25 seconds faster from Stephan Nasson of Adirondack Aquatics, who ended eighth in the event with the timing of 2 minutes and 07.76 seconds.
Furthermore, Pinto expressed happiness over her accomplishment at the medal distribution ceremony of the championship.
