Yang Sun of China excelled his performance in the Men’s 400m freestyle preliminary rounds on the initial day of the Federation Internationale de Natation (FINA) organised 14th World Long Course Championships in Shanghai, China, on Sunday, July

With his undisputed efforts in the qualifying rounds, the 19-year-old Sun overwhelmed the effort of his strongest competitor and world record holder, Paul Biedermann of Germany. Sun won the first round by submitting a remarkable effort of 3 minutes and 44.87

They were followed by 2008 Beijing Olympics Men’s 1500m freestyle gold medallist, Oussama Mellouli of Tunisia, who remained 0.72 seconds slower than his preceding swimmer and completed his swim in a fourth best time of  3 minutes and 45.90 seconds. Sebastien
