Yang Yong-eun marvels Noh Seung-yul - huge drives with a stiff neck
The Barclays Singapore Open will commence from the 11th of November and go on till the 14th of November and holds a rather classy collection of golfers. The event is welcoming players like Noh Seung-yul, Matteo Manassero, Adam
Scott, Francesco Molinari and Graeme McDowell all competing for one of the most lucrative first place positions in a while.
According to many critics, this event will be a huge tussle between Ian Poulter, Martin Kaymer and McDowell but according to Yang Yong-eun, one young golfer, Noh Seung-yul, is holding up a rather threatening form for the golfers
appearing at the Barclays Singapore Open.
Yang Yong-eun is known as the first Major Champion from Asia after appearing at the US PGA Championship in 2009. The record thus held by the Korean makes Yong-eun a major menace to draw cards at the US $ 6 million field this week.
The Sentosa Golf Club this week is also the host to the leader of the Asian Tour Order of Merit, Noh Seung-yul. The nineteen year old will be competing with the Phil Mickelson who holds 4 Major Champion titles and Ian Poulter who
is also a title holder. Along with the player from the United States, Noh will also face a hard-hitting war from the local golfers Mardan Mamat and Lam Chih Bing at the event backed up by the Asian Tour as well as the European Tour.
As far as Yong-eun is concerned, he is an honorary member of the Asian Tour and has been playing for three weeks consecutively - with a stiff neck. According to the Korean, his deep slumber after the Shanghai tournament is the
main reason he has soreness in his neck. He said that he might have slept on his belly that made him keep his back in one position for a few hours which after waking up had turned his neck sore and stiff.
“The physiotherapy is making it better” Yang said.
Regarding his neck stiffness, the two time Asian Tour winner said that he has his hopes up for the neck to heal soon and he would definitely play if his neck doesn’t cause problems.
Coming over to Yang’s opinion about the nineteen year old Noh, he said that Noh is a highly talented individual. He said that all he needs to do is control the tough mental game that always persists in the game and he’s on his
way to victory. The thirty eight year old is of the opinion that Noh holds a bright future and said that he needs to deal with two things, the mental game and coping with pressure. Yang however confirmed Noh’s ability to cope with pressure and said that it
can be much better.
Yang stated that he has a good relationship with Noh and has played with him before. He said that Noh is one of those golfers who can hit big drives. The 1996 turned professional marvelled at how far this young golfer can hit the
ball and related it to youth and its effects.
“its a work of Youth I presume” Yang said smilingly.
