Yani Tseng grabs yet another LPGA triumph at Kia Classic
The Kia Classic ended on Sunday with a flurry of excitement at La Costa Resort and Spa, with the current world number one Yani Tseng racking up her  third LPGA triumph of the 2012 season.
Taiwanese Tseng outperformed her rivals in an amazing style, as she carded a 70 on the last day of the much-hyped event.
Tseng showed her magic skills on the course, as she made sensible strokes on most of the holes.
The Kia Classic is her second victory in a row. She won the RR Donnelley LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) Founders Cup just days ago.
Tseng kicked off the last round of the Kia Classic with a clear plan, she kept her rivals at a distance from the beginning.
The event featured big names on the LPGA, such as Paula Creamer, but top-ranked Tseng kept the pressure on her rivals from the first round.
Tseng’s overall score was a 14-under 274 — a gigantic lead against her nearest rivals. The runner-up Sun Young Yoo carded a 71 in the final round, with an overall score of an 8-under par.
Moreover, Shanshan Feng, who recently won the World Ladies Championship at Mission Hills China, performed well, finishing tied for the third.
Although Tseng faced tough resistance from her rivals in the opening rounds, she managed to surge past her competitors in the last two rounds.
Caroline Hedwall, who finished tied for the fifth, displayed a phenomenal game in the first round. Hedwall managed to grab a lead along with Ji Young Oh from South Korea.
Although Tseng shared the first-round lead, the next rounds proved unlucky for Hedwall and Oh, as they lost momentum.
Sharing her feelings after the match, Tseng said that she was pretty excited to record her 2nd consecutive triumph and the third in the season.
She said that the upcoming event, Kraft Nabisco Championship is going to be tougher than the Kia Classic, given the psychological pressure.
She said that she is eying yet another victory at the major championship. However, she pointed out that the field at the major championship will be as fearsome as it was at the Kia Classic.
“I can’t wait to start on Thursday,” the top-ranked Taiwanese said.
