Yani Tseng keeps hopes high, as she is ready to face rivals at Vancouver next month
Current world number one might have missed a chance to grab a major title at the US Women Open 2012, but she is as hopeful of regaining her momentum as she was a couple of months back when she racked up her last LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) title at the Kia Classic 2012.
Tseng must be happy to see her name in the roster of the CN Canadian Women’s Open 2012, set to be held from August 20-26, at The Vancouver Golf Club, Canada, because she is keen to add more victories to her profile.
The CN Canadian Women’s Open 2012 will be full of energy and thrill, as the field is likely to stage a nerve-racking battle among top LPGA contenders.
However, much of the attention will be centred on Tseng, as she is in a crucial phase after other contenders have emerged to challenge her number one position in the Women’s World Golf Rankings.
Analysts said key contenders who pose a serious threat to the top-ranked prodigy include South Korean Na Yeon Choi, who has gained plenty of confidence and experience after clinching her first major title at the US Women’s Open 2012, and American Stacy Lewis, who has repeatedly expressed her vow to grab the top spot by toppling Tseng.
Although the Taiwanese star has been down and out for the last few weeks, she still has the guts and passion to make headway.
With critics pointing out flaws in Tseng’s game as they think the LPGA giant tends to lose her momentum after she faces a defeat in an event, there is much to be done before she considers racking up another title at Vancouver.
However, the star golfer is still the best when it comes to total points, and more importantly, she boasts a massive fan following. Having a large number of fans has kept Tseng in high spirits, as she has often said in her interviews that her admirers hate it when she loses a match.
Canadian fans are strong and the course is good with crowd, which means that the number one golfer is sure to receive much-needed support on the course when she comes face-to-face against her archrivals.
