Yani Tseng repeats vow to do well in Malaysia
Current world number one Yani Tseng has reiterated her vow to do well at the upcoming Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia 2012, saying she still draws inspiration from what she did in the final moments
of the last year’s edition.
The last edition of the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia saw South Korean Na Yeon Choi walk away with the title, although Tseng bounced back in the last two rounds, giving her nearest rival a hard
time.
Apparently, it was not Tseng’s day because pushing herself to the limit had only garnered a one-stork defeat that certainly was not what she and her fans had sought.
The Taiwanese star displayed a balanced game in the last three rounds, but a 69 in the first round caused her to stay a stroke behind Choi as she missed some good chances to score.
Choi, on the other hand, maintained her momentum in all the four rounds, posting a 66, 68, 67 and 68 to register an overall 269.
Tseng, despite losing the 2011 edition, still looks as ambitious as she was last year and knows what it will take to settle the score with Choi.
“I have a good memory from last year too. I was very close and I fought to the end,” the top-ranked prodigy said.
Tseng has been known for her explosive swing skills and she strikes fear into her rivals on the fairways. However, the recent weeks have been worse than a nightmare for the golfing sensation
as her putting and swing have not helped her at all in tournaments.
Having performed below average in most of the events in the recent past, Tseng is being expected to reshape her game plan and fine-tune swing.
Tseng likes to attribute her last year’s defeat to swing, saying she could not hit the ball as good as she had planned.
“I didn't swing it well the first couple of days but I finished well in second place,” she said.
On the question of how she is going to face her archrival at Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club, Tseng said: “Na Yeon always pushes me hard to the next level so I'm really looking forward
to this tournament. I played the course this morning and I love it".
