Yani Tseng stands ground despite performance slump
As is the case with every LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) season, the year 2012 has also seen a clean-out of old names from the lineup, but current world number one Yani Tseng
appears to have held her ground.
Despite having shown a worse-than-average performance in most of the matches in the second half of 2012 season, Tseng is still standing firm as she has vowed that she will not give up until
she gets back to winning ways.
The season is over now, with so many other stars having proved their mettle. However, the top-ranked prodigy will want to take her game more seriously in the 2013 season.
Notable developments carried out by ambitious LPGA officials in the recent past have opened the door for young guns to come forward and make their mark on the global scene.
Observers said that this has come as a wake-up call for Tseng, who, so far, has been pretty complacent with the way things are going. This time around, it appears that the new faces are exceptional
and there have been several of them who show every now and then to that they could rule the LPGA in the future.
The recent months have seen a huge influx of Asian players who have crushed their once-invincible American competitors. Stars like Na Yeon Choi, who won the season-ending CME Group Titleholders,
and Inbee Park are the names that are going to be around for years.
But veterans are not going to go away without putting up a tough fight. Many are still ranked in the top slots in the Women’s World Golf Rankings, making everyone believe how good they are
and they will continue to challenge the young guns.
Tseng’s performance at the CME Group Titleholders 2012 was a downer in every sense. Although she had been able to display a much better performance in her Asian tour, the last tournament of
the season put a damper on her spirits.
The Taiwanese star posted an overall 287 to finish tied for the 26th position.
Another big name on the Tour, Cristie Kerr of America, did much better at CME Group Titleholders 2012. Kerr shot a 281 to take a share of the seventh position on the leaderboard.
