Yani Tseng struggles to improve her position after second round of LPGA Championship 2012
The current world number one Yani Tseng could not live up to the expectations of her fans, as she got off to a sloppy start at the Wegmans LPGA Championship 2012.
Tseng is seeking to defend her title, as she won the last edition of the major tournament in an amazing style.
The tournament being played at the Locust Hill Country Club is entering into its third day, with Tseng struggling to improve her position on the leaderboard.
The top-ranked prodigy kicked off the second round in an impressive style, as she fired a birdie on the very first hole. She then parred the next five holes and shot a bogey on the difficult par-3 7th.
Although a bogey on the 7th troubled Tseng, but she bounced back by shooting two back-to-back birdies on the 8th and the 9th hole.
On the back nine, the golfing sensation looked completely devastated, as she made five bogeys and no birdie. The spectators were disappointed when Tseng miscalculated her putt on the par-4 10th and the par-5 11th.
Analysts said that the superstar looked completely demoralised after shooting a series of bogeys. Although she improved her position from tie 80 to tie 64 in the second round, she could not make the impact she was expected to.
Golf commentators said that Tseng might have been a little under pressure due to psychological pressure on her, as her fans expected her to defend her title.
Tseng said in one of her interviews that the major event is important for her. She has racked up five major titles so far, and it is natural for her fans to pin their hopes on her.
Speaking to the media about her performance, the world number one said that she knows that she did something wrong on the course, but still she has not lost her hope.
She added that the next two rounds can prove lucky for her. “Just hopefully I can still play the next few days. It was a really tough day out there. I play so good the front 9. Didn't make any putts,” Tseng said.
When asked what troubled her on the course, the Taiwanese star said, “I think it's my mental. I did my best. I focus on every shot. The golf course is very tough and the rough is very thick. If you get in there it is really hard to save par from the
rough”.
