Yani Tseng yet to confirm participation in Mobile Bay LPGA Classic
The current world number one Yani Tseng, who has performed surprisingly well in the 2012 season, has yet to confirm her participation in the Mobile Bay LPGA Classic, scheduled from April 26-29, at Magnolia Grove’s Crossings Course.
Tseng, who recently participated in the first major tournament of the season, Kraft Nabisco Championship 2012, has put her fans on hold regarding her confirmation for the Mobile Bay Classic.
The tournament officials said that although the field is almost complete, the possible presence of Yani Tseng has triggered several questions.
According to the details, the field set for this year’s edition is featuring competent LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) players.
Maria Hjorth, who is the defending champion of the tournament, has sparked excitement by confirming her participation. Hjorth played amazingly well in the last edition, as she carded a stunning 278.
In addition to the defending champion, the field will also feature Paula Creamer, Karrie Webb, Natalie Gulbis, Christina Kim and the rising star Lexi Thompson.
Analysts have said that the match is expected to stage a tough battle, as the players included in the field are used to playing in tough conditions.
However, they said that Tseng must show up at the Magnolia Grove’s Crossings Course, because she is the strongest contender, given her profile.
Analysts pointed out that Tseng has proved in the recent events that she can carve out a victory in the toughest of conditions, and that is why, her participation will keep other players interested.
Tseng played the 2011 edition of the Mobile Bay LPGA Classic, displaying a worse-than-expected performance. She failed to make the cut in the event.
Keeping in mind Tseng’s importance, officials of the tournament have said that they want Tseng in the field. They said that the last event might have dampened her spirits, but she is going stunning these days.
The Tournament Director Jonathan Romeo said, “Anytime you have the top American players Cristie Kerr, Paula Creamer, Stacy Lewis and Brittany Lincicome (all ranked in the top 10 of the Rolex Women's World Golf Rankings), plus crowd favorites like Christina
Kim, Morgan Pressel and Natalie Gulbis, we are in for a great week of entertaining golf in Mobile”.
