Well how it sounds it is to me, and as Fan you cant give up.

And clearly hank wants to get Another pitcher next year, but that's doesn't guarantee you HEALTH

  1. yea win it next yr sorry but you'll need more than 1 young pitcher (JOBA)

  2. True you cant give up, but at this point, i would give up on this year to get a better shot for next year. But lets look at some of the injuries thats hit us.

Wang- Out since june, out for the season likely.

Hughes- out since april, should be coming back soon.

kennedy- out from may to august, comes up, gets hit for 5 runs.

    Matsui, Out since july

Damon- On and off the DL

Arod- out for about a month from april to may

jeter- say hes day to day

With all these injuries its remarkable that they still have a chance. But they have to get their act together now if they want a realistic chance.

  3. I don't think he's really giving up on the team, rather he has a much more realistic evaluation of the team. Not something that father George would have.  No one expected the injury list to be as extensive as it's been.  Derek Jeter is having a down season although many ball players would kill to have his kind of year.

I really don't think the team, as a whole, really needs to do much to improve.  They just need to get healthy.  The one change I would make in the off season would be to trade Melky Cabrera.  As a center fielder he does not produce nearly enough offense.  One other trade I would try and make is to get Roy Oswalt from the Astros.  He will be playing out his option new season and I'll love to see him in a Yankee uniform.

  4. It does sound like it but i hope not, but i will always be a Yankee fan no matter what.

  5. I don't know if he is giving up, he may just be cutting Girardi and rest of the team some slack. The injury bug has hit the Yankees pretty hard this year.

  6. It sounds like Hank is giving up although I think the bigger picture is that Hank is starting to develop the plan for the off-season, heads will roll for this season.  I see some coaching changes (not Girardi but his staff) and quite a few personnel changing as well.

By the way they just messed up again on the fundamentals of the game not knowing which base to throw to...it is more than injuries that have done them in this year, they have played poor fundamentally.

  7. i dont think he's  giving up because they are still in it but i think what he is saying is that we have been amazingly unlucky and 80% of our starting rotation have been injured or not been good and right now there is a chance we dont make it

  8. I have a lot of problems with what he is saying.

First off, Wang is no Beckett, and clearly Joba was not the most dominating pitcher in Baseball.  Third Phil Hughes couldn't carry Lester's jockstrap, so a better comparison would have been to Bucholz who was on the DL.

Also, they got themselves into this situation.  They should have traded for Santana in the off-season instead of holding on to Melky Cabrera and whichever of Hughes or Kennedy that they wanted.  That entire team is past their prime and injury prone, so what did he expect.

That being said, watch out for CC and Big Tex in pinstripes next year.

  9. it does sound like it

  10. If Brian Cashman and also

  11. It certainly sounds like he is giving up. At least he admits injuries have been a problem instead of blaming Girardi.
