Yankee Fans and Rangers Fans: Would this be a good trade in the offseason?

Ian Kennedy for Jarrod Saltalamachia. According to the NY post...

"Ian Kennedy Ian Kennedy is turning into Kei Igawa before our eyes: He can flourish at Triple-A, gets bombed in the majors, his body language is terrible and his teammates don't like him."

And according to the Dallas Morning News

"Evan Grant suggests the Rangers trade Engel Beltre or Elvis Andrus for pitching this winter. Additionally, he thinks the Rangers might end up trading Jarrod Saltalamacchia rather than Gerald Laird."

Could it happen?? The yankees need a future catcher and the rangers need pitching.

  1. After the description you gave of Kennedy, why would the Rangers want to trade a good catcher who also plays a little first for a guy who can't pitch.

  2. The Yankees would do it in a heart beat.  I only wish as a Yankees fan that they could get any talent for just Kennedy, but it won't happen.  They would have to give them more.

  3. I think what could happen is trade Salty, and jason 2 minors for chamberlain, my prediction

  4. Dream on.  Why do so many people think that they can trade pieces that they have no use for anymore for something desirable?

  5. Won't work.  Posada has 3 years left on his contract

  6. It could. Texas has a lot of deph at catching - Laird, Saltalamacchia, Teagarden, Ramirez. If his teammates don't like him, I don't want him on my team. Why don't they like him? I don't need another trouble maker on my team. So if this is the case I would NOT trade Saltalamacchia for him.

  7. So the Rangers give up something good for something awful? Doesn't make any sense.

For what it's worth, I think Kennedy needs more time. I'm probably giving the kid more faith than he deserves, but people need to get off his back. He's young, has barely pitched in the majors, came back from an injury, definitely remembered his awful April, faced major league hitting for the first time, which we all know is different from minor league hitting.

Rasner had some horrible starts and the only thing I heard was, "Oh, Rasner just needs another start. He'll redeem himself. Give him another chance. We can't judge him yet."

Kennedy comes out and gives a shaky start and is immediately demoted. I know his comments didn't help, but give a 23-year-old a break.

I'd rather give Kennedy another chance or two. Calling him Kei Igawa is harsh.

There are few people as bad as Kei Igawa.
