Yankee candles the past year?

Just wondering if anyone bought yankee candles in the past year. I noticed they now have black smoke coming from the wick, and the wax no longer melts to liquid, instead burns down the center only, in addition the scent is not what it used to be. I then spoke to an owner of a shop who informed me many customers complained of the same and he stopped selling them just over a year ago because Yankee was bought out from a chinese distributor and they now use cheap ingredients and not worth the money, now you only pay for the name.

Hope I helped others with this info, and I would like to know if any of you have discovered that Yankee now sucks.

I actually noticed all of the black soot several years ago and quit using Yankee candles so I don't know if there has been any change in the last year.  

I found a brand that is made with natural vegetable waxes instead of petroleum-based paraffin.  They are Mia Bella's candles and they burn much cleaner, smell fantastic and hold the scent all the way to the end of the candle.  For more info visit:

Yes, you are right on! We are candle makers with a small retail shop and have started to get customers who were "Yankee Fans". The main reason they say they have stopped using them is because the scent quality has really taken a dive. I have also heard that complaint about Yankee candles sooting badly.

That is the way most of these big candle companies go, not too bad to start, but cheapen the product after they have you hooked.

My advice, find a local craftsman who hand pours. If you like them, stay with them!

yes, i agree. i had one and i had the little lamp thing to go over the top and every time i lighted it i would have to clean it after because there was soot on it. i figured it that much soot was on the lamp thing there must be a lot in the air, so i stopped buying them
