Yankees’ ace CC Sabathia optimistic about 2012 season – MLB News

CC Sabathia is one of the most exciting and talented pitchers in Major League Baseball right now. Since joining New York Yankees three years, Sabathia has given some impressive performances, leading New York Yankees to the playoffs last season. According
to a leading sports website, the Yankees’ ace is very optimistic and confident about 2012 season.
Sabathia takes pride in his performances. He works and sets high standards for himself. Not only is he an accurate thrower but he also has the ability to influence younger prospects in the team.
When Yankees’ General Manager Brian Cashman and Manager Joe Girardi decided to sign on Sabathia on a seven year $161 million contract in 2008, they were hoping to acquire someone who could provide stability in the pitching rotation.
“I knew where I wanted to be,” Sabathia said. “It’s been a lot of fun. Not just with numbers or things that happen on the field, but getting comfortable as a Yankee, and being in the clubhouse, getting to know some of these guys, being a part of the family,
part of the organization, is something that’s really important to me. By me feeling comfortable and feeling like I belong in the clubhouse, it allows me to play, have fun and pitch to my ability.”
“It definitely feels good just to go out and play and not worry about anything,” he added.
Considering his 59-23 win-loss record and an incredible ERA over the last three years, Sabathia has not disappointed his skipper at all. It will not be wrong to say that Sabathia has helped his team secure memorable victories over the last few years.
When he stepped onto the mound on Friday night in a game against Tampa Bay Rays, Sabathia became only the ninth pitcher for the Bombers to start in four consecutive Opening day games.
Although the big guy struggled with his control during the Spring Training campaign with 5.00 ERA, he will be looking to bounce back strongly in the regular season. It will be interesting to see if Sabathia can post solid numbers in 2012 to give himself
a chance to win the American League Most Valuable Players Award.
