I know I will have to hear from the whiney fans of 31 other teams.. however Paul Byrd and Jarod Washburn have both cleared waivers. Does any one know if the Yankees are doing anything to get them? If we are going to make a run at this thing we got to have some arms. Poor Ian just isn't cutting it. And at the trade deadline we got bats.. clearly that plan isn't working

  1. yankees pitching blows !!!!!!!!!!!!!! as we all know im a red sox fan

  2. i have worked closely with the yankees pitching coach and GM, and they say that they plan to work on there current pitching, and hold of on washburn and byrd. They are focusing on Roy Halliday next year.

  3. I totally agree with you. They needed pitching at the deadline. I dont think they are going to go after them . The injuries to Joba, Matusi ,and Wang killed us. After the effort this weekend they look like a team that has no desire to win.

  4. They're hoping that Phil Hughes can come back in the next couple of days. He made a rehab start last week for Scranton Wilkes Barre. he went 4.2 innings, and gave up 3 hits and 1 run walking only two.

He looks to be the go-to guy with this new predicament. And if we can get Joba to return and Ian Kennedy to straighten himself out at AAA, maybe, we could make a run for the wildcard in september.

However, if they make it, i don't expect they'll go far into the playoffs. Not with the Angels around. The Angels are the favorite to win the A.L. pennant this year.

And, if you want my honest opinion, it's about time the Rays got into the playoffs. They are way overdue.
