  1. Ptching Sucks

    and they are Old

  2. For anyone discussing salary, push that completely to the side. All a high-salary team means is that you have well-compensated help. It means nothing in the long run.

The Yankees have struggled somewhat for two reasons: 1) Starting pitching. The team was expecting a lot from their young pitchers in Ian Kennedy and Phil Hughes. They were injured and simply did not produce because of that. Throw in the loss of Chein-Ming Wang and you have 3/5 of your rotation being shaky, so you're bound to have problems. Thankfully, Andy Pettitte and Mike Mussina have performed admirably and Joba Chamberlain has come on like gangbusters from the bullpen to become a reliable starter. We should be thankful that Sidney Ponson hasn't been a total disaster and that Darrel Rasner was decent earlier in the season. (Even though it appears his days in the Bronx are numbered.)

The second reason is the offense has gone to sleep far too often. Too many days we've seen Derek Jeter go hitless or Bobby Abreu fail to get hits. And of course, Robinson Cano got off to a slow start. Combine that with a lacking bottom of the order and you have all the ingredients for a slow start. Thankfully, Cano is heating up again (like he always does in the second half), Abreu has woken up and even Alex Rodriguez is coming around. Now Jeter has to work on not hitting into so many double plays and they should try and build some team speed. You saw how it worked for them on Sunday.

I'd say it's harsh to say they suck. That's hard to say about a team that's 11 games over .500 and within 5.5 games of first place. Save the suck declaration for teams in the NL West.

  3. Pitching and Chemistry.

  4. Because they're horrible!

    GO ANGELS!!!!

  5. They have not gelled as a team. Everyone wants to be the superhero.

  6. Back end of Rotation is VERY weak, if they can get someone else to fill into the 4 spot man they would be like the Yankees of old. Right now they have 2 long relief pitchers filling into the rotation. I have to say though, Sidney Ponson last game :O i did not see that comming. Geise should be sloted into Rasners spot in the rotation & make way for Hughes, please hurry back. Anybody think Pavano will make it back? lol

  7. Baseball's a team sport. No matter how hard they try, buying players and sticking them together on one team isn't going to dominate a team that has chemistry. Look at how far the Rockies got last year on chemistry alone because we all know it wasn't the talent level that got them to the Series... Look at the Twins who had to give up Johan Santana and Torii Hunter over the offseason because they couldn't afford them anymore, and once again they are sitting atop their division!

  8. The pitching is weak. The yanks also have bad team chemistry because of the talent on the team. A team with high potential to do well but has no chemistry won't work out. The team also has a very high payroll.

  9. Pamela Anderson is stacked. My wife is stacked. The Yankees are not stacked.

  10. I think pitching and their hitting is a little off.

  11. There pitching just suck. they might have good hitter from the trade or whatever. but each one of them play for them self thinking to be the hero and not play as a team

and also the chemistry isnt big. that why they havent one a world series since 2000

  12. there hitting is great... they spend all of their money on big HITTING names..

Pitching on the other hand isnt soo great..

  13. so do the tigers and they suck this year

  14. cuz they just suck plain and simple

    its all about the dodgers

  15. Because of all the ego's.

  16. You can only stack fecal material so high and then it collapses creating a big stink.

  17. They have no Wang, no Torre, no Posada, their heating up, but it's just all different.  If you haven't notice the Red Sox aren't doing as good either.

  18. Because they are paid way too much, so they don't think they have to try all that hard. Would you go above and beyond at work if you knew you would still be making millions for just showing up?

  19. To many chiefs and not enough indians....They try and build an all star team and most of the times that doesn't work. And like others are saying the team is old, they don't have enough pitching. 220 + mil doesn't buy you a championship.

  20. Pitching is weak and they play as individuals more than they do as a team.

  21. injuries they lost their ace pitcher to a foot injury for the season their best hitter, a month into the season and one of their young pitchers who is now rehabbing and that's one of the reasons they have to start sidney ponson and darrell rasner. they are a combined 11-10 (not yankee expectations) with a combined 4.73 era terrible. they are relying on a 22 year old starting pitcher with 4 no decisions and a 3-3 record to be their stopper. another reason is their terrible hitting against leftys which is one of the reasons they brought in richie sexon who doesn't even play every day and xavier nady who has been very hot the past 4 or 5 games getting a hr and 6 rbis in sunday's game vs the angels they need to step up and go on a win streak and not go 2-5 in the last 7.

  22. I wouldn't say they suck, but considering all the injuries they had this season, they are still better than 2/3 of the league & still make a chase for the play offs

  23. Pitching not that strong.  Losing Wang didn't help either.

  24. I wouldn't say they suck. They should be a winning team on paper, but baseball isn't played on paper.

They have their troubles. The back of the rotations is weak, as others have mentioned. Many pitchers went down with injury this year-- 60 day DL kind of injuries.

Various members of the lineup went down to injury, including Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter.

The team didn't click for much of the season. When the offense was on, the pitching was off. When the pitching was on, the offense was off.

The bigger picture here is that, despite injury and poor play, the Yankees are still very much in the mix of things. They do not suck.

  25. They'll be fine. THey will make a run at the playoffs as usual.
