Yankees get Ivan...great move?

Yankees acquired Ivan Rodriguez, and I got to tell you, this is awesome. They "answered" The Angels with their "big trade", and being Posada is having season ending surgery, perfect move for Yankees. Though I wish they went out and got another arm as well. What do you think of Yankees latest move and will it benefit them making the playoffs?

  1. its a great move.they we're starting to fall at that position and getting pudge is awesome.14 time allstar.this is gonna be good.

  2. pudge is past his prime.

molina was doing a great job.

cashman should focus on pitching and not worry about other positions.

i will glady eat my words if they get into the playoffs.

in fact, i pray i'm proven wrong.

  3. I really don't know why they traded for someone who is probably going to retire in a year or two. Why not get some young talent instead?

  4. On the surface it seems like a great move because they'll definitely see more run production as a result of these recent trades. But, once again, they go into the second half pinning their hopes on average bottom of the rotation starters that have shown that they can get rocked at any time.

For this plan to work, they need to make sure that the offense isnt constantly playing catch up.

Making up for bad pitching is one of the quickest ways to wear out a team.

  5. I wouldn't say that the Yankees "answered" the "big trade" by the Angels. The Angels were a better team than the Yankees before those trades were made, and Teixeira (.902 OPS) is a much bigger threat than Rodriguez (.756 OPS). The Yankees made a smart trade to fill a hole, but they did not suddenly become a better team than the Angels.

  6. With Posada out for the year its a good trade to help molina because if molina went down Chad Moeller would be the starter.  And they may get another arm if the Mariners agree to trade Washburn, which might happen if the mariners give him up for practically nothing(thats what the yankees want.) With pudge it gives them a veteran catcher who can call a good game and help the young pitchers.

  7. All I keep hearing is the Yankees are getting more production. Has anybody looked at the stats? Pudge has 5 homers and 32 RBI's. Being a Tigers fan, I have seen him leave runners on over and over. Having said all that, I still think they could have got more than Farnsworth. He will just add to the bullpen woes Detroit already has.

  8. i can see this trade both ways. Pudge is a great catcher prob one of the best to play. But Farnsworth was coming a long really well, although he doesnt have a great past.. he was becoming a very dependable set up man, but with the starting pitching(hopefully better than against the orioles) getting back to where they were, this was a great move because it made the line up a lot stronger and no more intentional walks to who hits 8th to get to molina.

  9. bad trade for new york.  joba was main set up man then when he got moved to the starting rotation Farnsworth became main set up man.   their bullpen is too weak to compete

  10. With Posada out for the year it is a very good acquisition.
