The Red Sox. Yes we all know the Yankees have more all time championships, they have a lot of history. But in today's standings they are 5.5 back of the ray's and 3 games behind the red sox in the wild card race. There were a lot of issues surrounding Manny, and now that he's gone I feel like we can move on and get back to business. Basically Steinbrenner just pays for whoever they want... Theo is the best GM in the league. The Sox will continue to win and pull into first in September once the ray's run out of gas. The Ray's have 28 games in 28 days in september, including two sereis' with the Red Sox, and Two series' with the yankees. The ranks are by no mean set in stone at this point.

The Yankees. 1) History... something that the Red Sox really don't have. 2) Better fanbase...Yankee fans are so much more into the games. If you've ever been to Yankee stadium you know what I mean. 3) The Yankees are still a better team all around. Red Sox fans think that just because they won 2 world series in 4 years they're so much better than the Yankees, try winning 4 world series in 5 years...

In the Last 10 years----About dead even  (2 WS rings a piece, but the Yanks did appear in 4 over that span)

Overall, in the 130 something years of MLB, the Yankees are hands down the better team to take the field

Honestly, both teams are really equally talented. Both have bright spots in their lineups and both have massive holes in other areas. Both play well against tough opponents and lose to teams they should beat

If you talk about current record, the Red Sox are better, but in the overall head-to-head matchup between these two teams the Yankees have the edge by almost 200 Wins

so i know nobody is going to like this answe, but because you wanted to know the better team and why, Im telling you that because of past and present ordeals and triumphs, the two teams are about as dead even as you can get

I wont say the Yankees are better because of their 26 World Series Titles, or that the Red Sox are better because they won 2 World Series in the last 4 years

BUT i will say that recently the Red Sox would be the better team because of their performance the last couple of years, and i will say that the Yankees are the better team as far as a franchise goes, again, because of performance

i believe ive thoroughly confused and pissed off everyone with that answer

This is the 15th time I've seen this question. The Red Sox; and why? Even though the Yankees have 26 World Series the Red Sox have more loyal fans, players (excluding Manny), and awesome players too. Also because when we lost Papi we got through it and still maintained a strong position in the AL East. Plus if I didn't like the Red Sox why would my username be redsox12 huh??

Let the trash talking begin.  Red Sox have won 2 World Series, 2004 & 2007 & the Yankees won in 2000.  Both have good teams & a great history. Red Sox are ahead of the Yankees right now & are a little better but overall team history, the Yankees will always reign supreme. Red Sox fans will say they are & Yankee fans will say they are. Both great teams in my book but I will always say the Yankees

Offense favours the Yankees by a bit.

Pitching favours the Red Sox by A LOT.

Red Sox rightfully have the better record this year.

The reason the yankees have more 'all stars' is because that's what they buy.

The Yankee offense this year consists of 3 home grown players, all 3 in less than spectacular years (Cabrera, Jeter and Cano)

Arod, signed for $27 mil, Abreu traded for and signed for $16 mil, Damon signed for $13 mil, Matsui re-signed for $13 mil, Giambi signed for $21 mil

The Red Sox have Youkliss, Pedroia, Lowrie and Ellsbury from the farm and Varitek was traded for early on.  No one wanted Lowell and then there's Drew.

If I was to put money on one team making the playoffs, there is no way I would put money on the Yankees.
