Arsenal and Tottenham are in a much better position to land the talented midfielder after Zenit Saint Petersburg pulled out of making a move for the France international

Yann M’Villa has turned down a lucrative offer from Zenit Saint Petersburg after the player was subjected to intense death threats from Zenit fans. However, the midfielder is strongly linked to a move away from France, with Premiere League tipped as the
possible destination for the player.

Rennes have already confirmed having received offers from Tottenham, Zenit and an unnamed club possibly Arsenal, to land the talented midfielder’s services. Zenit Saint Petersburg however, had prepared a lucrative five-year-deal for the Frenchmen before
the 21-year-old turned it down amidst death threats from their fans.

It is reported that the French International had received life threatening, racially motivated letters from Zenit fans who threatened to put the life of the player at stake, should he decide to pursuit on the proposed move.

Subsequently, the player refused to negotiate with the Russian club and the proposed offer to the Frenchmen is no longer going to attract inclination from M’Villa.

The death threats have surfaced following the policy of the club that it will not sign certain players based on their skin colour, according to their former manager d**k Advocaat. It is pertinent to mention here that Zenit’s first-team squad does not include
any player of African descent.

The news of the collapse of negotiations between M’Villa and the Russian club has been deemed by pundits as a boost for Arsenal and Tottenham in their bid to sign the defensive midfielder. The former Amiens SC man is reckoned to be a player with “excellent
defensive abilities” and “impressive physical strength”.

Arsenal have long spotted M’Villa as their long-term target, following a lapse in the defensive midfield, but reports suggest that the club has not come up with any concrete offer for the player.

Arsenal’s home town rivals Tottenham Hotspurs are also keeping tabs on the player and have registered strong interest in the player. Andre Villas-Boas, the Spurs manager, is looking forward to bolster his midfield ranks following the departure of Tom Huddlestone
to join Stoke City on-loan.
