Club confident that the interest from Premier League clubs will effectively be fended off as Les Rouges embark on a season long campaign aiming to challenge domestic honours
Newcastle and Everton are the latest prominent forces to have inquired about the French sensation after having seen Arsenal and Tottenham already registering strong interest in the midfielder.
The competition in Premier League has recently seen an enormous hype and the clubs in top flight are effectively looking for ways to assemble their respective squads in as efficient manner as they can, looking for the best available options and backups as
possible.
Gunners have scouted the 22-year-old for a very long time and were on the verge of signing the former Amiens FC player before changing their mind on a player they always deemed as a long-term future of the club.
However, the recent failed attempt to attract Nuri Sahin and the departure of Alex Song to Arsenal could well re-ignite interest for M’Villa in the Arsenal camp. Arsene Wenger has always been a strong admirer of M’Villa, a player known for exceptional defensive
abilities and impressive physical strength.
Spurs have also been keeping tabs on the defensive midfielder and already have seen one bid rejected for the player. Likewise, Everton and Newcastle have also been reported to be in the race to land the talented midfielder to their respective squads.
On the contrary, Rennes general manager, Pierre Dreossi, was quoted as, “We have had some contact, but not much more than that.” He also acknowledged the worth of the player when he said, “So if Yann has to stay, then good. We will be stronger with him.”
However, the manager of the Red and Blacks, Frederic Antonetti believes that with every passing day, it is becoming more and more evident that the 22-year-old will stay. Telegraph quoted him as, “We have had some contact but nothing more than that. The more
time goes on the more we can think he will stay.”
However, the manager is also wary of the unpredictability in the transfer market as he cautiously added, “Now, as I have been saying for some time, we know Yann could still go in the final week of the transfer window.”
