Yannick Agnel clinches Men’s 200m freestyle title - 2011 Paris Open Swimming Championships
Yannick Agnel of France won the gold medal of the Men’s 200m freestyle on day two of the 2011 Paris Open Swimming Championships.
The Paris Open is an international swimming meet, where elite athletes are competing with each other to prepare themselves for the upcoming battle at the 2011 Shanghai World Championships, this July.
The 19-year-old Agnel won the title of the event in a breath-taking time of 1 minute and 45.59 seconds. The champion swimmer was almost two seconds ahead of his team-member, Jeremy Stravius, who touched the wall in a remarkable time of 1 minute and 47.45
seconds. They were followed by Danila Isotov of Russia, who touched the wall for bronze medal in a third fastest time of 1 minute and 48.99 seconds.
Agnel has the honour of making his country proud at several international stages of swimming, while he was also a part of the French swimming team, which won a gold medal in the 4*100m freestyle relay and a bronze medal in the 4*200m freestyle relay at the
2010 Dubai World Championships.
Agnel’s team-mate, Gregory Mallet, proved his eligibility for the fourth fastest spot of the event, by clocking a time of 1 minute and 49.61 seconds. He was followed by Christoph Fildebrandt of Germany, who was 0.44 seconds behind Mallet and touched the
wall in a time of 1 minute and 50.15 seconds for the fifth position.
Fildebrandt’s team-member, Markus Deibler, was only 0.58 seconds away and touched the wall for sixth position, with a timing of 1 minute and 50.73 seconds.
He was followed by Guillaume Strohmeyer of France, who concluded his swim in the seventh fastest place, by producing a time of 1 minute and 50.91 seconds. The last spot of the race was secured by Massimiliano Rosolino of Italy, who touched the wall for eight
position, by reporting a time of 1 minute and 52.03 seconds.
Agnel expressed happiness with his title winning effort and claimed that he will try to make his country proud at the upcoming event in Shanghai.
