Yannick Agnel earns Men’s 200m freestyle gold: Day two – 2012 Paris Open

French veteran, Yannick Agnel earned gold medal of the Men’s 200m freestyle on second day of the 2012 Paris Open Swimming Championships on Saturday, July 7.
Agnel, who occupied gold medals of 100m and 400m freestyle on opening day of the champion, went full rampant in the mediocre distance freestyle discipline.
With his impeccable efforts, Agnel faced no trouble from his challengers and hit the finishing wall for the title of the event with the timing of 1 minute and 46.09 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by his team-member, Jeremy Stravius, who stayed two and a half body lengths behind and transpired on the finishing end for second position with an effort of 1 minute and 48.68 seconds.
The second position holder remained just 0.01 seconds lucky from his teammate, Clement Lefert, who settled on the finishing end for bronze medal by producing a time of 1 minutes and 48.69 seconds.
The bronze medallist was chased by Alexander Sukhorukov of Russia, who stayed nearly full body length apart and tapped the finishing end with the timing of 1 minute and 49.46 seconds for fourth position.
The Russian swimmer faced strong contest from his following swimmer, Alex Di Giorgio of Italy, who tried hard to overpower him on the finishing end but managed to match his pace in the final lap. Giorgio stayed 0.48 seconds away from his preceding swimmer
and hit the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 49.94 seconds.
Sixth position of the discipline was secured by Gregory Mallet of France, who stayed 0.75 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and concluded his race in a time of 1 minute and 50.69 seconds.
Subsequently, Mallet was chased by Massimiliano Rosolino of Italy, who stayed 0.07 seconds apart and clocked a timing of 1 minute and 50.76 seconds for seventh position.
Eighth spot of the race was secured by Glenn Surgeloose of Belgium, who ended his sprint in a time of 1 minute and 51.29 seconds.
Agnel was delighted with his third gold finish in the tournament and received massive appreciation from the arena at the medal distribution ceremony.
