Yannick Agnel pockets Men’s 200m freestyle title: 2012 French Short Course Nationals
Yannick Agnel of Olympic Nice Natation pocketed gold medal of the Men’s 200m freestyle on fourth day of the 2012 French Short Course Nationals on Sunday, November 18.
Agnel, who broke the world record of 400m freestyle on opening day of the championship, went full rampant in the 200m discipline and secured gold medal.
With his exhausting efforts in the start, Agnel enjoyed a commendable lead over his opponent and posted a time of 1 minute and 39.70 seconds for gold medal.
His title claiming effort remained 4.17 seconds slower from his following swimmer, Gregory Mallet of CN Marseille, who occupied silver medal of the race by producing a wonderful time of 1 minute and 43.87 seconds.
The second position holder was followed by Mehdy Metella of Dauphins Toulouse OEC, who stayed one and a half body length slower from his foregoing finisher and touched the wall for third position with a nice timing of 1 minute and 45.14 seconds.
Metella was trailed by Joris Hustache of Stade Francais O Courbevoie, who stayed 1.51 seconds behind and concluded his race in a time of 1 minute and 46.65 seconds for fourth position.
Fifth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Ganesh Pedurand of Dauphins Toulouse OEC, who suffered a deficit of half body length from his former finisher and ended his race in a time of 1 minute and 47.22 seconds.
Pedurand was chased by his teammate, Alexis Cabrol, who was full body length behind and ended his race in a time of 1 minute and 48.10 seconds for sixth position.
Seventh fastest spot of the race was obtained by Cabrol’s team-member, Lorys Bourelly, who was only 0.19 seconds behind and posted a time of 1 minute and 48.29 seconds.
Bourelly remained just a touch ahead of Matthew Jouvion of ES Massy Natation, who tried hard to overwhelm his competitors but failed to do so and ended his race in eighth place with the timing of 1 minute and 48.46 seconds.
In addition, Agnel expressed happiness over his victory and raked medal for his notable form after the event.
