Yannick Agnel secures Men’s 100m freestyle gold: 2012 French Short Course Nationals
Yannick Agnel of Olympic Nice Natation secured gold medal of the Men’s 100m freestyle on second day of 2012 French Short Course Nationals on Friday, November 16.
Agnel, who improved the world record of the 400m freestyle on opening day of the tournament, continued his gruelling efforts in the playoff of the 100m discipline and raked the title.
With his alluring efforts, Agnel stayed prominently ahead of his opponents and tapped the wall for gold medal. His immaculate start coupled with his strong determination, placed him in a body length lead over his toughest challenger and tapped the wall for
gold medal with an effort of 46.68 seconds.
The champion was followed by William Meynard of CN Marseille, who was 0.72 seconds apart and concluded his race in second best place by producing a time of 47.40 seconds.
The silver medallist was chased by Mehdy Metella of Dauphins Toulouse OEC, who was 0.24 seconds apart and surfaced on the finishing end for bronze medal by clocking a time of 47.64 seconds.
Fourth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Gregory Mallet of CN Marseille, who was only 0.12 seconds behind and transpired on the finishing end by clocking an effort of 47.76 seconds.
Mallet was chased by Nosy Pelagie of Lyon Natation, who stayed 0.69 seconds behind and cruised his way towards the finishing end for fifth position by posting an effort of 48.45 seconds.
Sixth spot of the race was obtained by Yoris Grandjean of Belgique, who suffered a deficit of 0.04 seconds from his former finisher and ended his race in a time of 48.49 seconds.
Grandjean was chased by Joris Hustache of Stade Francais of Courbevoie, who was only a stroke apart and clocked an effort of 48.63 seconds for seventh place.
Eighth position of the event was obtained by Amaury Leveaux of Mulhouse On, who was only 0.07 seconds slower and clocked a time of 48.70 seconds.
Furthermore, Agnel was extremely pleased with his top finish in the race and stated that he would try hard to acquire the title of same event at upcoming World Championships.
