Yannick Agnel wins Men’s 400m freestyle gold – 2012 European SC Swimming Championships
Yannick Agnel of France won gold medal of the Men’s 400m freestyle on initial day of the 2012 European Short Course Swimming Championships in Chartres, France on Thursday, November 22.
Agnel, who just improved the world record of 400m freestyle at the French Nationals, went full rampant in the European event and overpowered his challengers by claiming the crown.
Agnel remained in a prominent lead over his closest competitor and surfaced on the finishing end for first position by producing an effort of 3 minutes and 37.54 seconds.
The champion was followed by Gabriele Detti of Italy, who was almost four seconds slower and surfaced on the finishing end for silver medal by touching the wall with the timing of 3 minutes and 41.66 seconds.
The silver medallist was followed by Andrea Mitchell D’Arrigo of Italy, who stayed almost 0.60 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and occupied third position of the race by submitting an effort of 3 minutes and 42.32 seconds.
Fourth finest spot of the race was obtained by Sergiy Frolov of Ukraine, who stayed 0.41 seconds slower and settled on the finishing end by clocking an effort of 3 minutes and 42.73 seconds.
Frolov was trailed by Artem Lobuzov of Russia, who stayed 1.02 seconds away from upsetting his foregoing finisher and clocked an effort of 3 minutes and 43.75 seconds for fifth position.
Sixth position of the race was obtained by Christian Scheruebl of Austria, who stayed 0.05 seconds slower and posted a time of 3 minutes and 43.80 seconds.
Scheruebl was followed by his teammate, David Brandl, who suffered a loss of only 0.18 seconds from his former finisher and tapped the wall with the timing of 3 minutes and 43.98 seconds for seventh position.
Brandl was traced by Anthony Pannier of France, who stayed 0.52 seconds behind and tapped the wall with an effort of 3 minutes and 44.50 seconds.
In addition, Agnel was delighted with his undisputed form in the 400m event and articulated his desire of making his fans happier by accomplishing the same at the 2012 World Championship in Turkey.
