Yao Jie beats Karin Schnaase in Women’s Singles quarter-finals - Bitburger Badminton Open Update
Netherland’s Yao Jie lived up to the expectations and cleared the quarter-final round of Bitburger Badminton Open Grand Prix Gold after thrashing Karin Schnaase on November 2, 2012.
This Women’s Singles tussle took place in Saarbrucken, Germany and it prolonged to 29 minutes before ending with decisive figures of 21-10 and 21-11.
The victorious shuttler played with great control and ruled the court in both games whereas the native campaigner failed to pocket even a single match point.
Karin Schnaase, who was having a huge support of the local crowd, disappointed her supporters by kneeling down tamely.
The German player took a decent start in both segments of the showdown but the lack of good finishing skills ultimately led her to a woeful exit.
On the other hand, the Dutch female shuttler capitalised her rival’s blunders and registered a straight-set victory.
Yao Jie started the opening game by keeping a low profile. This cautious approach resulted in a tight margin of 6-7.
However, she picked up some pace and made a notable difference by piling up a decent total of 11 before the interval.
After the mid-game break, Yao Jie switched on the best and proved herself superior in all departments of the game.
She pushed the German shuttler in all areas of the court and put her under huge pressure with a significant figure of 15-8.
This convincing lead helped Yao Jie to finish the first set with an impressive margin of 21-10.
Next game, which proved the decider later, was also a disappointment for the German spectators as Karin Schnaase hardly showed any fighting spirit and crashed out of the home event.
This time the Dutch player did not give her challenger enough time to get settled and got into commanding position immediately in the beginning.
She established a strong grip by placing a mountainous total of 11-5 at half time and then magnified the impact with a flurry of productive strokes.
Yao Jie widened the gap with 16-9 and then swept the table with an overwhelming figure of 21-11.
Her next challenge will be to exceed Carolina Marin and a win will reserve her spot in the title match of this tournament.
