Yao Jie clinches Women’s Singles title at Dutch International 2012 – Badminton news
Netherlands’ Yao Jie put up superb show of fascinating badminton and made her home fans happy by winning Women’s Singles title at the home event of Dutch International 2012 on Sunday, April 15.
In the final showdown, Jie showed her elevated skills and overpowered Malaysia’s upcoming player Sonia Su Ya Cheah and clinched the crown.
The World Number 20 Jie, who was the top seeded shuttler in Dutch International, proved her worth and lived up to the expectations of her home crowd by playing remarkable badminton and managed to win the contest in three games.
On the other hand, the un-seeded Sonia also played remarkable badminton against the top seed and also took the opening game.
However, the Malaysian failed to remain on track in following games and lost the battle in rubber games in 47 minutes.
In the opening set, both ladies played remarkably well as they kept the pace high and also controlled the bird with impressive skills.
They continued playing tremendous badminton until the one-minute break when both females were close.
After the break, Jie tried to dominate the pace of rallies but failed to manipulate the loopholes of her rival and eventually lost the opening game with a close 19-21 score on the board.
Jie made a strong comeback into the match as she played with precision this time and did not let her opponent to dictate the pace.
Until the interval, she was in strong position as she set up a wonderful lead on the score board.
After the break, the Dutch lady continued cheering her home fans by playing killing badminton as she did not miss any chance to win points and stretch her lead.
The top seed took the second game rather easily with a one-sided score of 9-21.
In the deciding game, Jie was in full control of the pace as she did not spare any opportunity for her opponent to take control of rallies and remained ahead until the break.
After the interval, Sonia tried to play competitive badminton but could not break the flow of her opponent at any stage.
Jie was playing with amazing speed and won the final set with an impressive 21-12 score on the board.
The Dutch shuttler emerged victorious in the title match with a superb score of 19-21, 21-9 and 21-12.
