Yao Jie topples Carolina Marin to land title berth at Bitburger Open Grand Prix Gold 2012
Yao Jie, the most impressive shuttler from Netherlands, showed a tremendous performance on court as she landed a title berth after giving a severe lesson to Carolina Marin of Spain in Women’s Singles semi-final at Bitburger Open Grand Prix Gold 2012 on Saturday,
October 3, in Germany.
The World Number 22 Jie, who has been placed at number two in the main draw of the championship, showed a remarkable performance on court and remained successful in showing exit to her un-seeded rival in just 34 minutes.
Dutch lady employed her hard-to-learn skills on court by playing to her maximum potential and remained successful in crushing her Spanish challenger in straight games with a convincing margin on the score board.
In the meanwhile, the fourth seeded Carolina failed to create pressure on her rival when it mattered most and remained unable to control the pace of rallies. She crashed out at semi-final stage without winning any set.
It was a tough fight in the initial rallies when both ladies showed a superb display of their attacking skills on court and kept the home crowd engages.
However, the in-form Jie took over the control by putting phenomenal variations in her shots and she started to dominate the pace of rallies.
Jie did not show any sign of confusion as the opening set progressed and she remained in complete command of rallies until the one-minute interval.
After the mid-game break, the contest progressed in the similar fashion as Jie did not spare any chance for her Spanish rival of fighting back and stayed ahead.
The impressive Dutch shuttler continued employing powerful smashes in targeted areas and took the opening game with a comfortable 21-17 score on the board.
In the second half, the lower ranked Carolina increased her speed to play smart badminton but could not pile up pressure on her in-form opponent.
In the meanwhile, the powerful smashes perfect drives helped Jie to remain ahead of her challenger and she secured the set with an amazing margin of 21-15.
The second seeded Jie easily overpowered Carolina in straight sets in 34 minutes with a dominating 21-17 and 21-15 difference on the board.
