Yarroom to get the better of Party Royal in Attheraces.com Exclusive Barry Geraghty Blog Nursery at Lingfield
Yarroom is very much of interest on nursery debut with the trip expected to suit in Attheraces.com Exclusive Barry Geraghty Blog Nursery, being hosted by Lingfield on Wednesday, December 05, 2012. The 2-year-old sparked in good style on his last start at
Wolverhampton, looking good to outpace Party Royal in today’s 1-mile meeting.
Yarroom faced a couple of unlucky defeats early in his career. After finishing fourth at Kempton, the juvenile shared the podium at Newmarket in October. The Roger Varian-trained finally got it right at Wolverhampton, where he trounced Prophets Pride by
staggering seven lengths in the 32Red Casino Maiden Stakes.
In the hands of Andrea Atzeni, the favourite colt virtually made all, and raced keenly in the middle stages. He started extending his advantage a furlong before the wire, and eventually secured the first place with ease.
Having bolted up in maiden company, the son of Cape Cross is all set to collect more. The main danger is Party Royal, who made a fine AW run last time. The audience at Kempton saw him finishing second to Quintilian just by one and quarter lengths in the
32Red Casino Nursery.
Under Joe Fanning, the 12-1 chance was a reluctant leader in the first furlong. He tracked the leaders well afterwards, but was well held throughout. Mark Johnston’s colt clung on for the second place. A 1lb rise is unlikely to make any difference.
Including this pair, eight horses have entered the class-4 meeting. The competition will be for a handsome prize of £3,429.
Ocean Applause has claims from a fair mark back in nursery. But only a calculated risk should be taken on John Ryan’s charge. Run Fat Lass Run is jumping up in trip, and the market speaks nothing good. King Of Kudos, since leaving Richard Hannon, is making
his first run, and will be the one to note.
Archie Stevens looks another to consider. The Tom Dascombe-trained is bred to stay, and seems in good shape following a few consistent runs. Sunblazer needs to improve in order to make an impact. Similarly, Run It Twice has a few tough questions to answer
in this company.
