Yasir Arafat hopes to be selected for the ICC World T20 2012 – Cricket News Update
Pakistan’s all-rounder, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 World T20 2012, which will be held in Sri Lanka in September/October.
The 30-year-old was recalled to the Pakistan team for the T20 leg of the on-going tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758. The fast bowler impressed in the second match by picking up three wickets, which helped the Green Shirts level the series.
Arafat is one of the most successful T20 bowlers in the world as he has represented a number of teams in different tournaments all around the globe. In the 129 T20 matches he has played, the cricketer from Rawalpindi has grabbed 154 scalps at an impressive
average of 22.40. His name was included in the Guinness Book of World Records last year because of his performances in the T20 format.
On top of that, Arafat is more than handy with the bat as he has five first-class hundreds and a Test fifty under his belt. On his day, the lower-order batsman can hit the ball a long way.
The fast bowler is currently playing the Friends Life T20 Tournament 2012 in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013, representing Lancashire, and is seeing it as an opportunity to impress the Pakistani selectors.
“It was good to get called back into the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 side after so long out, and playing for Lancashire gives me another good opportunity to show what I can do,” he said.
Pakistan is the only team in the world of cricket to have qualified for the semi-finals of all the three World T20s played so far. Arafat played in two of those mega events; however, the all-rounder could not make a huge impression in those tournaments.
Yasir expressed, “The Twenty20 World Cup is in September and the selectors will be watching how I do in this competition for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lancashire-c806 so hopefully I can impress.”
Before the all-important event, Pakistan is likely to play three T20s against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 in August and it remains to be seen whether the all-rounder is able to retain his place in the national squad.
