Yasir Hameed re-called into Pakistan Test squad for Australia Series

Four Pakistani cricketers left for England to join the Pakistan cricket team for the upcoming Test series against the Australians which will be followed by a four match Test series against hosts England. The reinforcements include Yasir Hameed, Zulqarnain Haider, Azhar Ali and Tanvir Ahmed.

The Pakistan team, after white-washing Australia in the two T20’s will face the same opposition in two Test matches starting from July the 13th at Lord’s. The second test is scheduled from the 21st of July and will be played in Leeds. The Test series against Australia will work as a home series for Pakistan which has been shifted to English grounds due to Australia’s refusal to visit Pakistan due to the security concerns.

Karachi’s medium-pacer Tanvir Ahmed along with all-rounder Azhar Ali from Lahore are joining the team in England as well. The England tour is going to be the maiden trip for both the players who are hopeful of gaining a place in the Test squad against Australia and England.

Surprisingly, the skilled wicketkeeper from Karachi, Sarfaraz Ahmed has once again been overlooked by the selection committee. Sarfaraz made the disastrous tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 as a back-up wicketkeeper for Kamran Akmal in 2009. He was also part of the team that played the final Hobart Test against Australia.

Before leaving for England, the players had a brief interaction with the media in Lahore. All of the four players were optimistic about the test series and were hopeful of making good show in the series.

The infighting between the board and the players has left the test squad in tatters as two seasoned test cricketers in the shape of Younis Khan and Mohammad Yousaf are absent. Both the players were penalized with indefinite bans in the month of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ijaz-Butt-c64128. Yousaf announced his retirement from international cricket in protest to what he called ‘a biased behaviour from the PCB’s management’. Later on, Yousaf was asked by the board to come out of his self-imposed retirement from international cricket but he rebuffed the board’s requests. Younis Khan, on the other hand, was snubbed from the squad as he failed to get his name cleared from the Pakistan Cricket Board.

Captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-Afridi-c2482 acknowledged the services of seasoned test players Younis Khan and Mohammad Yousaf as he said that the team would miss the expertise of both the veteran test cricketers in England.

“Obviously we will miss their experience. I wanted them in the team for this tour and I tried my best to see they were in the team but for different reasons this couldn’t happen and it is unfortunate”.

He said that the team would have to manage with the available resources in England. Afridi clarified that he is focusing on the younger players in the squad. He was hopeful that they will perform much better than their T20 performance and will offer the nation some good results in the test series as well.
