Yasuhiro Tanaka clinches Men’s 100m breaststroke gold – 2012 Paralympic Games
Yasuhiro Tanaka of Japan clinched gold medal of the Men’s 100m breaststroke in SB14 category on eighth day of the swimming events at the 2012 London Paralympic Games in Aquatics Centre on Thursday, September 6.
The Japanese veteran stifled hopes of his opponents in the double lap breaststroke discipline as he showed his urgency towards the finishing end for gold medal.
With his relentless efforts, Tanaka enjoyed a comfortable lead over his opponents throughout the race and made his way to the finishing wall for gold medal by posting a time of 1 minute and 06.69 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Artem Pavlenko of Russia, who stayed one and a half body length away from his preceding swimmer and occupied silver medal of the event by producing an effort of 1 minute and 08.38 seconds.
The Russian swimmer was traced by Marc Evers of Netherlands, who suffered a loss of just 0.05 seconds from his former swimmer and transpired on the finishing blockade as third best finisher by clocking a time of 1 minute and 08.43 seconds.
Evers was traced by Yangmook Jung of Korea, who stayed 1.31 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and settled on the wall as fourth best finisher by reporting a time of 1 minute and 09.74 seconds.
Subsequently, fifth position of the race was obtained by Richard Eliason of Australia, who stayed 0.22 seconds away from his former finisher and hit the wall with an effort of 1 minute and 09.96 seconds.
Eliason was trailed by Aaron Moores of Great Britain, who stayed 0.50 seconds away from overpowering his preceding swimmer and hit the wall with a timing of 1 minute and 10.46 seconds for sixth position.
Moores was traced by his teammate, Daniel Pepper, who stayed considerably slower from him and surfaced as seventh best finisher with an effort of 1 minute and 12.64 seconds.
Pepper was traced by Kai Lun Au of Hong Kong, China, who completed his race in eighth place by submitting a time of 1 minute and 13.54 seconds.
Furthermore, Tanaka was overjoyed after his victory in the 100m event.
