  1. l*****g is fine. They don't eat pasta, try fresh fruits and veggies with no salt, sugar, etc. Here's a great site try it out

    http://www.twinsqueaks.com

  2. You sound like you are doing a good job. Mine loved cherrios!

  3. yeah you are doing everything right except one thing :), gerbils are'nt nocturnal they like to sleep in the nighttime (they do have short little naps during the day though) so some light would be nice during the day, but you should provide a little place for them to hide and sleep in, also put some aspen shavings or carefresh the more the better, because they love to dig so try to make it thick goodluck.

  4. Research all you can about gerbils... there's a lot of good web sites out there.

It sounds like you are doing fine.  Cooked pasta is fine for gerbils- also make sure you have a high quality gerbil food for their main diet.  Gerbils are nocturnal... so they will be awake at night; when you turn the light off it'll just make them more active.  It's normal. :)

  5. sounds like your doing just fine :)

    do some reasearch on google..

youd be surprised how much informatiuon you can find about hamsters on there..

  6. u might want to go to a pet store and get shedding, and  gerbil food. Also, get a wheel or your gerbils. And no i wouldn't feed my gerbil pasta, but thats just me :) also they like to sleep during the day and play durring the night.Or, go to a local Petco, or Petsmart, ( optional) and ask them what u need for a gerbil. minus the cage. oh, and i hope i answered ok.Plus, CONGRATS!!! u got a gerbil which are very friendly, and a great companion! i dont have gerbils though i have 8 hamsters. :) bye! :)

  7. google gerbil taming and after so work and time they jump straight on your hand

  8. Since no one else pointed it out, you need to be careful with a cage made of wood. Gerbils love to chew(as all rodents do), and can easily chew their way out through wood.

While gerbils tend to be diurnal(awake during the day), they are also active at night. They will not go to sleep at a set time, or "lights out like you would, so it is normal for them to be active at night.

Pasta is ok for them to eat(they will even be able to eat it raw). Just be sure you are not over doing treats. Small amounts of pasta, sugar free cereals(cherios, puffed wheat/rice, etc), and sunflower seeds are ok occasionally or in small amounts, but anything like that should be kept to a minimum.

It takes some animals time to get used to be handled and touched and become trusting enough to crawl into your palm. Getting into your hand is more of a trick to teach, than something they will do on their own.

You sound like a worried mom/dad, lol, but thats ok. You are doing fine, just do as much research as possible. The library and the internet are great free sources of information, so take advantage of that.

  9. Im hoping you did your research, right?

In her temp. cage try putting in just a little bit of bedding or an old tshirt,  so they can burrow, and make sure your doors are closed, and she has acess to food and water, and occasionally give her treats. If shes not biting and drawing blood then i wouldn't worry, its stressful for them to be in a new envoironment, :)

    Good luck!
