Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure is confident that City can win the Premier League title this season, as he expects the team to be in a favourable position when he returns from the Cup of Nations.
Toure departed for the Cup of nations last month and in his absence City have gone on to suffer some massive road blocks, on their path to having a very productive season.
City went on to crash out of the Carling Cup and the FA Cup, while they suffered a defeat to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c13019 in the Premier League which has left them tied on points with Manchester United.
However, Toure feels that his side are more than confident of producing positive results in his absence, while he insists that he is not irreplaceable.
The Ivory Coast international is quoted to have said: “We have a great team and I know I am certainly not irreplaceable.”
“Look at the amount of money the club has spent on talent and still tell me that ‘there is only one Yaya’.
“I do not believe this. Somebody can still play in my place and help us win.”
He then admitted that he was hopeful for City being on top of the league when he returned from the African Cup of Nations, so that he could help the team maintain their dominance and claim the Premier League crown.
“By the time the African Cup of Nations finishes I hope we will still be on top of the league.”
He added: “Every single player wants to be in the first team, so we all work incredibly hard to be there.”
Despite no one at City admitting it, Toure’s absence has been a massive blow for the team. Not only have City lost their ability to dominate the midfield, but they also seem to lack the physical presence that they used to have when Toure was around.
Nonetheless, with the season just about to heat-up Toure is more than likely going to give the team a much needed lift when he returns from the AFCON in the near future.
It is now a wait to see just how Toure will be able to influence City and their chances of winning the Premier League once he returns.
