Yayasan Negeri Sembilan ropes in K. Rajan for upcoming Malaysian Hockey League – Hockey News
In order to upgrade their performances and chalk up their luck in the forthcoming edition of the Malaysia Hockey League (MHL), the former champions Yayasan Negeri Sembilan (YNS) roped in veteran hockey trainer namely K. Rajan.
The MHL 2011 is going to commence from September 23, 2011. K. Rajan is one of the most triumphant and longest serving trainer of the Malaysian Hockey League. Amazingly, he has had wonderful career as a player. He was part of the Tenaga Nasional which lifted
overall titles back in 1987 and 1989.
After a successful career, Rajan was appointed as first trainer of the Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) back in 1994. Soon after the one year, he changed the employer and started coaching Tenaga Nasional with which he stayed for the next twelve years. The team
of Tenaga Nasional under his training earned six titles including three overall and three league honours. It won the league titles respectively in 2000, 2002 and 2003 while attained overall honours correspondingly in 2003, 2004 and 2007.
K. Rajan has been roped in by the Malaysian Hockey Federation (MHF) back in 2008 to train the national junior line-up. The junior line-up under his guidance secured 12th place out of 20 teams in the 2009 Junior World Cup. In 2010, he was inducted
as trainer of the Armed Forces for the Malaysian league.  
Yayasan Negeri Sembilan, the former champion made a comeback into the league after 15 years. It lastly won the tournaments back in 1994 and 1995. In the 2010 edition, the Negeri team was comprised of eleven guest players hailing from Pakistan, Bangladesh
and India. However, they failed to show their worth and secured fourth place both in the Premier Division and Finals Round.
To further improve their level, the YNS roped in K. Rajan and is still looking to hire foreign players for 2011 season.
Rajan while speaking to the media informed that the YNS line-up would be comprised of comparatively youngster line-up mostly hailing from Negeri and Selangor. He stated, “YNS will not have the services of national or former international in the team. I will
coach a young team with most of the players from Selangor and Negri.”
It is vital to note her that no club will be allowed to bring in more than six foreigners in the Malaysian Hockey League (MHL). The decisions to allow the national players in the league will be taken on August 20 by the MHF. It will be interesting to see
if Rajan can make a significant difference to the team and improve their performance in their upcoming match-ups.
