Yayasan Negri Sembilan aim to finish among top three places in this year’s Malaysian Hockey League
Yayasan Negri Sembilan (YNS), the former Malaysian Hockey League (MHL) champions, are eyeing to improve their last year’s MHL performance where they had finished at fourth place. YNS are targeting a top-three finish in this year’s MHL scheduled to start
from September 17.
K. Rajan, the coach of the YNS stated that his side will feature Khairul Annuar and Mohamed Nor Hafiq Abdul Ghaffar, the former 2009 national juniors, along with six of the Pakistan players to further strengthen the side in the event.
“It is a good mix of foreign and local players and the team should be better than what we had last year. Naturally the target will be to try and win one of the titles but for the moment we want to improve on the fourth placing achieved last year. I believe
that we have the material to do that but it won’t be easy,” Rajan stated about his side and their target to improve their last year’s performance in the event.
He further stated that although the big four clubs in the MHL have been playing consistently well and it will be a tough task to tackle them in this year’s league. He commented that they are pretty hopeful for a better performance this year as their team
consists of some very good national, seasoned and experienced foreign players to take up the task.
Rajan also added to his comments that this year the league will be played in a short span of time and they are quite hopeful that the foreign players will provide their services throughout the entire tournament and will return to home after completing the
event.
“Last year the team had to face the prospect of having some of the foreign players going back midway during the MHL as they had club commitments back home,” Rajan further explained about the availability of the foreign players in last year’s MHL.
YNS will start their MHL campaign against Nur Insafi which is also comprised of a number of foreign players.
