Ok so I just started taking yaz for a little over a week. My doctor who perscribed it to me told me to wait and take it the first day of my period so I did exactly as I was told. For those of you who don't know it has a lot of little pink pills and then at the end has some white pills. . . well normally before I was taking yaz my periods would last for 5 to 7 days. Well today is the 9th day of me taking yaz and I am still on my period.... whats going on? I though yaz was supposed to make you have shorter and lighter periods... idk if maybe its doing it now just because I just started taking it... idk.. plz help

  1. Same thing happened to me when I started taking Yazmin (the old version of Yaz).  The first one was really long -- I got my period on the second inactive pill and it didn't go away until the 2nd active pill...but Yazmin had more inactives than the new Yaz which may have been why it was so long.

When I switched to Yaz, I would get my period on the 3rd inactive and it would be gone after the 2nd active, so it lasted about 4 days.  If you're taking the new version (Yaz) with the 4 inactive (white pills) and NOT the old version (Yazmin) with the 6-7 inactive pills, then you may want to go see your doc to see what's up.  9 days seems like a very long time to be bleeding!

  2. You're still getting used to it. Next month should be better.
