Ye Shiwen claims Women’s 200m IM title in Nanchang: 2011 Chinese National City Games
Young athlete of China, Ye Shiwen gave a stunning performance in competitive swimming at the 2011 Chinese National City Games in Nanchang, China, on Thursday, October 20. The session of the meet conducted several matchless meets. Ye Shiwen notched Women’s
200m Individual Medley title, while Shao Yiwen claimed Women’s 200m crown. In addition, Zhang Qibin won Men’s 200m butterfly title.
Ye Shiwen was up against her strongest rivals, Xue Jiao and Zhou Min, as Shiwen started off in sensational fashion and thrashed out her competitors by hitting the finishing wall in a record breaking mark of 2 minutes and 10.01 seconds to win the Women’s
200m Individual Medley title. Her swim was short of her previous best meet record of 2 minutes and 08.90 seconds, set back in 2011. Meanwhile, Jiao claimed silver medal by posting a time of 2 minutes and 13.92 seconds and Min settled for bronze title in a
time of 2 minutes and 14.56 seconds, respectively.  
Yiwen showed her wonderful swimming techniques and hit the finishing wall in a mouth shattering time of 1 minute and 58.51 seconds to win the Women’s 200m freestyle title. In the meantime, Liu Yiru posted a matchless time of 1 minute and 59.33 seconds to
clinch the silver medal, whereas, Zhou Lili picked bronze title by submitting a winning time of 2 minutes and 00.33 seconds.
In another exciting event, Zhang Qibin of China ousted his competitors, Wang Pudong and Liu Zhengzhou by hitting the finishing wall in a nerve wrecking mark of 1 minute and 58.90 seconds to win the Men’s 200m butterfly title. Pudong had to settle with silver
medal in the respective race with a time of 1 minute and 59.44 seconds, whereas, Zhengzhou claimed bronze title by touching the finishing wall in a time of 2 minutes and 01.95 seconds.
The scintillating swims of all Chinese athletes impressed Nanchang’s crowd and the toppers were honoured with medals after the session’s completion. The 2011 Chinese National City Games is a thrilling activity for all young guns of China to prepare themselves
hard for their futuristic meets of swimming.
