Ye Sun wins Women’s 100m breast-stroke crown: Day six – 2011 World University Games
Day six of the 2011 World University Games got off to a strong start with the matchless performance of Chinese swimmer, Ye Sun in the breast-stroke final in Shenzhen, China, on Friday, August 19. The session of the meet organised the Women’s 100m breast-stroke
final.
In the corresponding meet, Sun snared golden crown on the podium by posting a remarkable time of 1 minute and 07.53 seconds. Ye has already won the gold medal in Women’s 200m breast-stroke of the current meet. Meanwhile, Colleen Tera Beilen Van of Canada
earned silver medal on the podium by submitting an impressive time of 1 minute and 08.24 seconds and Satomi Suzuki of Japan grabbed bronze medal in a time of 1 minute and 08.45 seconds.  
Samantha Marshall of Australia finished fourth in 1 minute and 08.49 seconds, while Ann Chandler of United States rounded out the top five in 1 minute and 08.77 seconds. Ann Chandler’s team-mate, Micah Lawrence wound up sixth in a time of 1 minute and 08.96
seconds. Mina Matsushima of Japan was placed seventh in a time of 1 minute and 09.39 seconds, while Sara Bekri El finished eighth in 1 minute and 09.73 seconds.
Additionally, the Men’s 1500m freestyle title was taken over by Rocco Potenza of Italy with a victorious time of 15 minutes and 00.57 seconds. Yohsuke Miyamoto of Japan picked silver title in 15 minutes and 04.86 seconds, while Sergii Frolov of Ukraine snared
bronze in a time of 15 minutes and 06.17 seconds.
Moreover, Shiho Sakai of Japan snagged the Women’s 200m back-stroke crown on the podium by posting a winning time of 2 minutes and 09.75 seconds. Anne Hilary Caldwell of Canada took home the silver title on the platform by submitting an impressive time of
2 minutes and 11.12 seconds, while Duane Marce Da Rocha of Spain captured bronze medal with a sterling time of 2 minutes and 11.24 seconds.
Finally, the winners were awarded medals and accolades on account of their scintillating swims after the session’s completion.
