  1. 15.1hh+ im 5'4 and weigh 90pounds i think..but i ride a 15.2hh horse because i can grow into the horse and not have to give it up =D

  2. It actully goes by weight. Horses are not supposed to carry more than 20%  of their body weight. I know a 13.1H pony whose rider is 5'6", so really the choice for a person who weighs 106 will be more a matter of what the rider is comfortable with.

  3. Probably between 15.2 and 16 hands

  4. prob between 15-15.7 maybe 16

  5. the hands doesn't make a difference. What matters is the breed of horse and how its built. Muscular and bone structure is what determines how much it can hold.

  6. Depends on what you want.  You can ride a 14.2HH pony if you want, or a bit smaller.  If you have a long torso, you might look a bit tall on the pony, but the pony could definitely carry you.

A big, heavy taller horse would make you look like a small child, but if you want to - go for it.

around 15.3 and built more like a thoroughbred would probably fit your proportions well, but really you can ride anything from a sturdy 14HH pony on up.

  7. Hands don't matter.....    as long as your feet are'nt on the ground , your fine .. besides you are  small enough to ride anything.

What  does matter  is , what experience level you are  &  the temperment of the horse  aswell as disciplines

  8. well you can pretty much ride anything from 15h and up as long as you have the strength and experience to handle a horse. i'm 5'1" and i have a 17.3 hand horse. As long as the horse has the personality/temperment that fits with you, then height shouldnt be a problem unless you dont want to fall a long distance when you fall off =] . and there is no such thing as 16.7 or something like that, it stops at 16.3 then goes to the next hand (17). the post above me is very rude too you were not asking on whether youre too skinny or what not.

  9. A horse should carry a maximum of 20% of it's weight. So for a 106lb person...a good size horse would be at least the 14hh horse and up, weighing at least 900 lbs.  The most appropriate size would be 14.2hh and 1100 lbs.  That is a great size horse.  If you like taller or bulkier, you can move up a few inches or lbs. To tell you the truth, you are standard size so as long as you aren't riding a 7hh pony, you could really ride any size.  HOpe I helped.

****I also agree with Jordyan on the 15.6 hh thing.

  10. 15-16hh is my guess.

  11. No one can answer that question because you failed to tell us your discipline.  For dressage you would want a taller 15 hand horse (I think dressage judges like tall horses but then again I am not a dressage enthusiast).  However for trail riding and everyday riding I suggest a 14.2 to 15.2 hand horse.  Any taller than 15.2 hands and you have to duck under far to many limbs. Any shorter and you get soaked when you cross water hazards.  You would be surprised how much difference a couple of inches make.

But any full sized horse will be tall enough and strong enough for you.

  12. wow...you are basically a walking skeleton at that weight and height. Have you ridden before...not to knock super skinny people, but are you going to have the strength?

My sister use to be skinny and she is only 5'5" and she was skin and bones....you being at 5'7"...ewwww.

with your height...around 14 hands would be minimum...just based on height...on weight, you could pretty much ride anything except for mini's.

  13. well that really  depends have you ridden before are u good at controling a  moderatley big horse or is thsi your first tiem in your life tht u have ever riddne a horse i have seen people your size ride percherons before but they have had a lotta training i ride horse is 5ft5in and ride anythign from, paint horse to clysdales but if u are not experienced i would say about 15 to 15.6 hands

  14. probably around 15 to 15'3 would be a good size

  15. first of all

there is no 15.6 or 15.7

    or anything like that.

it only goes from 15 to 15.3 then on to 16.

and for your height a horse aver 15.1 would probably be best.

and your weight doesnt really factor into it either.

unless you were extremely large, which your not.
