  1. I know most of the fighter start off in those brazilian nijitsu(sp) gyms to train. For example I thick his name is B.J or P.J Penn started off in one of those types of gymes before he went into MMA.

  2. Join your highschool wrestling team RIGHT NOW. You will get some of the best conditioning and  ground work EVER. Do not delay.

Also sign up for weight training classes.

Once you have done that you can start looking for a MMA gym. American Top Team has some great schools, and any Straight Blast Gym is also going to be top notch. No matter what gym you find do a little research, find out if their guys fight in local shows and win, how often, etc...  Find out what kind of record the instructor has. It doesn't need to be some crazy 200 wins, 0 losses c**p, since frequently great trainers/coaches/teachers aren't great fighters as well. But it's important that he have some kind of record so that you know he's been in there and knows what kind of pressure it is.

But most importantly, HIGH SCHOOL WRESTLING.

  3. Yeah since you have two more years before you can legally enter the cage any where in America spend that time training.  Good Luck!!!

  4. running and shadow boxing..

    up and downs

learn to crawl before you walk.

  5. Boxing gym.

  6. Your best bet is to look for local gyms. Go in and talk to the instructors and tell them what you want to do with the training. They will usually give you a free week to see if it's what you are looking for. Everyone has different styles and methods of training. Find what fits you best. Don't just settle with the name on the studio.

    Good Luck!

  7. For standing: muay thai, boxing, sanshou, kyokushin karate.

For grappling: Judo, brazilian jujitsu, wrestling.

For a mix of grappling and striking: combat sambo, shidokan karate.

    good luck!
