  1. probably the best advice i can give you is that when your laying on your board, stay centered. whatever movements you do should be done equally so you don't tip over. i know this sounds trivial, but believe me, when your being rocked around by waves it is a little more difficult than you would think.

staying stable requires a bigger board. try to find the longest, thickest, and widest board you can. you're not trying to win any style points here, so even an old board will work fine as long as it doesn't have any parts where the fiberglass is exposed; you don't want it taking on any water.

practice in the white water where the waves are all broken and crumbly. this will help you get a feel for timing and being able to "read" waves.

lastly, practice on dry land first your popping up motion. it should be fluid. when you're paddling and feel the wave start to carry you, place both your hands on the rails of the board and plant your feet on the board. keep your center of gravity low. reading this will only get you so far. the best advice would be to practice!

  2. Ok. You need to have SOME speed to not fall off. That requires a bigger wave. Which requires you paddle faster...

    Not talking hawai here, or even 3 ft.....just a nice slow(but thick/big) 2 footer.

You need to go out paddling everyday. You do 5 days in a row and you'll be better at paddling allready.

Then try to catch a wave.

You need lots of strenght to catch a wave. Most people (even surfers) don't realise.

Most surfers live with tension and pain without knowing it.

if you could keep a surfer out of water for 10 years, and stretch him out, you'd find superman.........

  3. if you live near the coast surfing lessons are a good idea!

umm when ur up, if u get up, remember to bend your knees and u can try putting ur hands out for balance//.

when u start, ask someone to push you onto some little whitewash waves cos it saves you having to paddle at first..

Dont look down!!!!!! this is important and the main reason everyone falls off.....look straight ahead over ur shoulder and remember that where u look is normally where u go//.

big fat boards are the easiest to stand up on so try starting on one of them!

    =] good luck =]

  4. stand up in one motion

  5. Well i love surfing and when i started i fell off all the time. No one can't do it. I recommend a good surfing school with qualified instructors where they can teach you. It can be quite cheap!

Also just get a couple of mates and go for a try or ask someone to teach you.

    Surfing is the best sport....

    have fun!!!

  6. Well just don't look down other wise you will fall! Good Luck!!!

  7. ive bin surfing for almost about 2 and a half years, its realllllly hard at first, mi uncle tough me. first u should try to learn how to scate boar, snowboart befor u surf. lol trust me it really help. and obviously u nw the basics... u need to nw how to swim and not be afraid of the ocean and nw how to take on spacific waves at there power and hight. hav some pro surfer teach u this summer itll be really fun, and their really hot so ull hav alot of fun learning [; good luck thanx for the question.

  8. Make sure you have really good balance, find your sweet spot on the board and keep your knees bent. It makes it easier to turn. Control the board with your leg muslces not your entire body.

  9. Falling off is what everyone does when they only dabble in it.

    Don't worry

    Do it

  10. Hi,

    Google it

    Cheers

  11. Hey ballerina you'll get enough knowhow on surfing in Australlia. I am afraid nobody surfs in India except the Internet.

  12. Get private lessons and a longboard would be much easier to use if its hard for you to balance. If you live in the United States there are alot of places with surf lessons and surf camps like ron jon surf camp in florida.
