Got my very first Roma 'mater, from my first plant I ever planted, the little mater is almost all red, do I pick it now? I know Roma's are a smaller tomato, but this one seems even smaller. (info: I bought it as a plant, not from seed, and it is a container grown plant). Any 'mater help would be 'preciated! Thanky!

  1. Why not? It's red and it's ready for you to eat. I plant them outside and sometimes they get so ripe, they fall from the vine. Lots of luck!!!

  2. There are different types of roma tomatoes some are a miniature form. (I'm not saying it is, it's just a thought.) The thing about tomatoes is that if you pick them when they are not quite ready, you can put them on the window sill and they will ripen in the sun. They will however give you the best flavour left on the vine - just watch out the birds don't get them first.

  3. Give it a very gentle tug--- very gentle. If it is ripe it will come off easily. Roma maters make excellent sauce and they will all come at once so get your recipe book ready.  Have fun.

  4. Wait a few days. It will get sweeter.
