Yearling not acting normal?

My 14 month old paint gelding has not been acting like himself for the past couple days. He usually is very alert, energetic and lively. Since yesterday he acts tired, a little depressed at times, he just stands around alot. He is still eating, drinking, peeing and pooping normally. I am worried cause he has never acted like this before. It is not a dramatic change in his behavior, but definitely enough for me to notice. He has not shown any signs of colic. What should i do? What could be wrong?

  3. Is he current on his vaccinations?

I agree it might be the heat.  Plus even though you use fly spray on them, they still get pestered, and that makes them tired too.

Years back, I had a little year and a half old filly and she started acting like what you are describing.  Then she started loosing weight, not having much interest in food.  She just didn't have any energy and didn't care if the flies were on her or not.  I started wrapping her legs cuz the flies weren't listening to the fly spray and she was getting sores.  Poor little girl!  I ended up calling the vet, and it turns out that her heart wasn't growing, so it couldn't pump enough blood to keep her going.  That's why she didn't have any energy.  We put her down.  Vet said it was uncommon, so I hope you have better luck with yours!

    Keep me updated please.
