Yeast-free quick white bread recipe?

My lil sister has a problem with yeast and can't have anything with yeast in it. I'm looking for a quickbread recipe that can be made in a loaf pan, will rise okay with baking powder or baking soda, and is just a plain recipe without vanilla, nuts, fruit, etc. Any help is great! Thanks!

  1. Here is a very simple yeast-free bread recipe:

    Ing:

        * 1 Cup of Cornmeal

        * 1 Egg

        * 1 Teaspoon of Baking Powder

        * 1 Teaspoon of Salt

        * 1 Tablespoon of Shortening

        * Pre-Heated Oven at 375 Degrees

        * 1 Cup of Boiling Water

        * Regular Size Bread Pan for Baking

        * Measuring Cups and Spoons

    Step1

    Boil 1 cup of water on the stove top. Pre-heat your oven to 375 degrees. In large mixing bowl combine these ingredients - 1 cup of cornmeal, 1 teaspoon of salt and 1 tablespoon of shortening. Add the boiling water gradually (a small scoop at a time) and mix. Continue adding the boiling water until it creates a paste like consistency.

    Step2

    Add 1 egg and 1 teaspoon of baking powder. Continue mixing the ingredients until the dough isn't sticking to the side of the bowl. You can use your hands to mix it or a large wooden spoon.

    Step3

    You can grease your bread pan with a little of the shortening or with butter - which ever you prefer. Place the entire mixture into your greased bread pan and bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
