Yeast infection under the neck?

My little girl is always getting an yeast infection under her neck. I try so hard to keep it dry and clean. I always put baby powder under her neck to keep it dry but it doesnt seem to completely go away. (she is 2 months old) will this go away once she is able to hold her head up completely? Should I be very concerned about this? It doesnt seem to bother her at all.

sometimes it just a little red, sometimes it starts to stink like an yeast infection.

*The doctor gave me special powder before, but I have to take her to the sitter and she is lisenced, but never took a class to give med. so by state law she can not give a baby meds. so I cant give her that to use. *

  1. Wow, I haven't had this issue yet.  I personally would just continue with the medicinal powder when you can and then have the sitter use baby powder while she is there.

I do believe it will get better as she gets older and is able to hold her head up and sit up on her own.  Just rest assured that it is a very common thing and there isn't much you can do.  Once the weather cools more it will also help with that as well.

  2. My daughter has that underneath har neck , arm pits in every little place that has skin together. My baby is 15 pounds and has rolls..so its going to happend.Do nut use a wash cloth to clean it cuz it will make it worst , i put cream on it that i use for babies bum rash and it goes away in a a couple of hours. And make sure to check when temperature is warm cuz that also increases that chances of making it worse, just clean it with fingers while in bath.pat it dry and put some bum cream makes miracles ^.^

  3. let the sitter put the powder on her neck or it is never going to go away.

  4. After each feeding you need to wipe and apply powder to the area. Sounds like she has very sensitive skin and even a teeny bit of milk will cause a lot of irritation. you just have to be vigilant about keeping the area clean and dry. Same goes for behind the ears.

  5. Well...then get crafty and empty out an old bottle of baby power ( one of the small travel sizes) and fill it with the prescription powder...she will never know.  MAKE her use it!

Doesn't sound like you're still using the prescription powder either.

It will go away once there's less baby fat on the neck - but do what you can to keep her clean and dry in that area!!!  How do you know it isn't bothering her????

And be very careful with the powder around her face.

  6. My daughter has the same problem. She s always getting infections under her neck, but hers is because she has torticollis. Her doctor gave me a prescription for lotrimin cream and it works great. It can be used whenever she has an infection and it clears it right up.

  7. yes this will definatly stop after she can hold her neck up,its just from moisture sitting there...probalby she spit dirty water or juice right thee ...maybe even sweat

  8. what also can help now is try laying her on a flat surface like a blanet on the floor vs sitting in a boucny or swing this will help keep her neck from scrunching up.

  9. Just because she holds her head up does not mean it will go away.

Maybe put vagisil on it? I'm sure it won't hurt her as long as she doesn't touch her neck and put her fingers in her mouth.
