Yeast infections and your period?

I have noticed that around my menstrual cycle that i get more "wetness" then normal. I also noticed that I am a little itchy. But, as soon as my period stops it goes away. any others out there get like this? is this a yeast infection? I don't think it could be yeast infection if it magically disappears on its own. why would our periods make our bodies produce more fluid? Hormone changes perhaps..this would explain why I get extremely horny during my period..therefore "lubing" me up for it in result. but for it to feel itchy??wth??

  1. yeast infections always flare up the week before and during your period. i have personal experience with it and it's true. so, you prob do have a minor yeast infection. call your doc and make an appt.

  2. Menstrual flow is a different pH to your vaginal pH so it can be enough to trigger off infections in some women who may already have a slight imbalance in their vaginal environment. More often than not however it is down to the menstrual products she uses, these are one of the most common causes of both infections and irritation;

    Tampons are a risk because they prevent normal vaginal cleaning, absorb vaginal fluids, leave fibres in the v****a, and give bacteria and yeast the perfect environment to multiply within the v****a. Commercial tampons carry additional risk as they are made from synthetic materials, additives, chemicals and bleaches. Thus why tampons are linked to all sorts from vaginal irritation to toxic shock syndrome, increased menstrual flow to cancer. Tampons could easily be causing mild vaginal infections, irritation or if using commercial tampons the chemicals in the tampons cause be causing an allergic reaction. I’d suggest if you carry on using tampons switch to organic tampons, soft tampons, sponge tampons or cloth tampons. Better still switch to a safe internal menstrual option such as menstrual cups or softcups.

    Pads, these are fine unless they are commercial pads then these carry the same sort of risks as commercial tampons. Commercial pads are made from synthetics and plastics that make the groin moist and warm, perfect environment for bacteria and yeast, not to mention generally uncomfortable, chemicals, bleaches and additives also increased risks of infection, irritation and allergic reaction. If you use pads try swapping to organic pads, cloth pads, homemade pads, padded panties, or period belts.

    I used to get CONSTANT bacterial and yeast infections, sometimes doctors would catch them, sometimes they would go away on their own, sometimes they would stick around and doctors would insist it was my imagination. I used to use commercial tampons and commercial pads, I switched to a menstrual cup and I haven’t had a single infection or problem full-stop ever since, which is five years now. Even without my own personal experience, even if you weren’t experiencing these problems, as someone who works in sexual health I would recommend if you use tampons to dump them as soon as you can, they really are very harmful and unhygienic things that would be affecting your health whether you are aware of it or not, there are much better options available to you.

    Joys of being super-horny! It’s thought that nature messed up and changed our horny days to menstruation rather than our fertile days, it’s also thought that it is because during menstruation we are more aware of our sexual anatomy, more in a personal space, thus why horny – there are plenty of books on the subject, I recommend the book Red Flower by Dena Taylor amongst others for information on that and menstruation in general. Lubrication and discharge are different things, extra discharge down to hormonal changes and extra lubrication down to being horny.

    Itching however – I can pretty much guarantee you that it comes down to your menstrual products, change to something healthier and you will get rid of the itching.

  3. It would be great if  yeast infections could magically disappear.It's just normal changes that occur in the ph of  your v****a. I don't know why your "horny" but I'm sure your boyfriend must be circling your time of the month on his calender also!!!
