Yellow Lights on Car?

I was wondering if it was illegal to have YELLOW low beam lights on a car.

I'm assuming no because I've seen yellow low beams on other cars. But you know, people are rebels so I could be wrong.

  1. Actually, it is illegal, and that is why none of the major headlamp suppliers market the here.  The light output is less because of the filtering that is necessary to produce the yellow.  Yellow has an advantage in fog, only.

They used to be the law in France, but now they are only permitted there, not required, and permitted in a few other countries, such as  Belgium, The Netherlands, Switzerland, Japan, and New Zealand, NOT Canada or the US.

Headlamps on new vehicles must produce white light, according to both ECE and SAE standards.

  2. No its not illegal.  You can have any type of light color.  Why don't you get HID instead?  I think they look better.
