Question:

Yellow dried spots on my rabbits neck?

Hi there,

I have two rabbits male and female both 1 year old, they have always been healthy until now I've noticed in my male rabbit on either side of his neck or jaw he has these bumps which when I spread apart the fur it's a little yellow dried crust about 6 on each side, it doesn't actually look like there is a wound as it's not red or bleeding towards the skin but I'm afraid to pick it off or distress him. It doesn't look like it is a very serious thing although I'm worried and would like to know if this is something common. Other than that he has been fine, runs around, clear eyes, no sneezing or coughing, very clean. Also this has just started since moving to a house with a garden and I leave them outside during the day in their indoor cages, could this be a bug biting his neck? The other rabbit is fine.. I'm trying to think of any other information to tell you, I noticed he's a little bit thinner than before but I can pin that down to experimenting with new foods. HELP!

  1. Maybe he got blisters from being outside. Or he doesn't like moving and you tend to be moving him from inside to outside. Your old house, did you bring tem outside? If not, and you ant them to go outside now, you need to take them out for a short time then gradually bring them out longer. Plus, keep the same food. It might not be good to keep changing it! Hope this  helps!
