Question:

Yellow marks after braces?

OK, I've had my braces for 2½ year, and I am finally getting them off now!

But I am starting to get a little worried now, because I haven't always brushed my teeth twice a day.

I usually brush my teeth before going to school, but not before going to bed.

When I went to the dentist, I brushed my teeth very well, and he never said, that my brushing was bad. I am wondering now, if there will be yellow marks, after my brace has been removed?

Would my dentist have seen it, and told me about it, if there is yellow marks under the braces?

I am sorry if my English is bad, but I am from Denmark (:

  1. It depends how much coffee, tea, coke and curry you eat and drink. These foods will stain the teeth and leave some marks. My sister doesn't ever have any of those foods and when he braces were taken off, there were no marks, she used a whitening product just in case and her teeth are very very white. I drink tea and coffee and I have braces :-s and sometimes I also don't brush for as long as I should, and I can see that my teeth are a bit stained, so I think I might have marks. You could use baking soda, put some on a wet toothbrush and brush it onto your teeth and inbetween the brackets, this will get rid of any staining, then afterwards always clean your teeth for like 5 mins twice a day and use mouthwash. You can also get a floss called "superfloss" from Oral B, which can be used with braces. - It has a hard bit at the end of the string so you can thread it through the teeth under the wire.

When you get the braces off.. use Crest whitestrips, which are called "Blend-a-Med whitestrips" in Europe, you can buy them in big pharmacies or online. They work very well. An American friend of mine had brownish teeth because she drinks 5 cokes every day, and she used the whitestrips and EVEN after 6 months! and still drinking so much coke, he teeth were reeeaallly white. So they definately work! I've already bought some for when my braces come off ..hopefully.. in a few months.. (had them 2 years already!). Good luck and brush your teeth! lol :-)

  2. Nope, I'm the same. Which is bad cause you are supposed to brush twice. But after the braces are removed they orthodontist will remove all the glue and your teeth will be sparkly white. If you are still not happy go to your dentist and they will polish your teeth up, and they'll look great!

  3. no thereh shouldnt be any marks there
